We’re committed to a better workplace and a better planet

Our commitment to positive environmental practices and outcomes is proven by our many green initiatives. These include:

• Working diligently to implement environmental policies and procedures to achieve the BOMA BESt (“Building Environmental Standards”).
• Using green energy for a portion of building energy consumption across our portfolios.
• Designing and developing LEED (“Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design”) Gold certified properties. LEED is a whole-building approach to sustainability that recognizes performance in five key areas of human and environmental health:  sustainable site development, water efficiency, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
• Pursuing LEED EB (“Existing Building”) designations for select buildings in Alberta and British Columbia.
• The implementation of a green lease that allows for landlords and tenants to work collaboratively toward sustainability practices.
• Ongoing assessments of properties for improved environmental performance through greener processes and upgrades to energy efficient equipment and controls.
• Annual participation in Earth Day in the markets we operate in.
• Sustainable corporate practices such as two-sided printing, the elimination of water delivery in favour of filtration systems, and motion sensor controlled lighting in our offices.
• Keeping our own offices green by using recycled paper and practicing plastic, metal, paper and compost recycling.
